For me a heroine is a sister. My sister’s name is Rocio. She’s a very important person for me because she has the greatest qualities, she’s intelligent, and she’s the most easy going, perseverant person I have ever known. Rocio has saved me twice and has also saved other people.
Rochi lives in Buenos Aires with my family and me. I really enjoy living with her because she’s near my age so I can spend time with her and learn many things. We travel a lot because my parents want us to know the world and have general knowledge. Yet when summer comes we always go to Uruguay where we have a house. Last summer I was on the beach with my sister and my grand-parents and we had forgotten water to drink. My granny went to a tuck shop to buy some water and as she was going to take her time I went into the sea. The sea was cold but outside it was very hot so it didn’t matter. My granny came back from the tuck shop so I decided to go and drink some mineral water but, as I was going out, a wave got me. For ten seconds I was paralyzed but on the eleventh I was carried by my sister to land, a perfect survivor hero.
She has saved me other times and she has saved my little sister too. I always thank her for that and she always repeats to me: “ You would have done the same thing for me” I would have done the same thing of course but not with such perseverance as she had. Rocio has changed my life; I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her and my mum. I am very happy because I have the greatest sister of all!
At school, we are reading a book called Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Mrs. Frisby is daring to do anything to help his son Timothy who is sick from pneumonia. This also reflects that Rocio is a hero on the spot when she calls my mum on the phone to tell her that I had cut my finger. For me little things that my heroine does are the same as big acts that other heroes known by many people do.
As I mentioned before, for me a hero is a sister. I really don’t care if she does small things like a phone call or saving me from a wave. For me these small acts represent important episodes that change my every day life. That is the reason why I always smile when I see her. That takes me to have a bracelet with my sister’s initials. When my little sister grows I wish she can also amaze me with the things she will do, and I wish I can amaze her, too.
