Romeo

by Ginevra from Buenos Aires

My grandfather Romeo Landini, was born in Italy before World War I. He was a very brave and courageous man. I chose him, because my father always told me fantastic stories about him. He also told me that he was a very good person, with fascination of discovery and doing lots of things. He changed job several times. In my opinion he was indecisive but his thoughts were that he could do lots of things, as he had a whole life to live, and he was a very hopeful person.

My hero was born in Italy, and after living there for eight years he left to Brazil, where his father had a newspaper company. He went to school, and after that, he studied the Military career. When he finished his secondary school, they called him to defend Italy from Austria. During that "war," he was in an aerostatic globe, when he saw the Austrian coming, his troupe attacked and the Austrians shot the globe where he was and he threw himself a parachute. He was one of the first men to jump from a high height with a parachute without dying. After this "war," he won a silver medal, for being a brave man. Romeo continued his life, and became a Military Attache. He came to Argentina and set up a business. One of the two he had was of advertising and the other one was a newspaper of his father. He travelled a lot all around the world.

The adventure that struck my attention most was when Romeo saved the king. It was a very funny and courageous way. The enemies were coming to kidnap the king, so he and his friends dressed-up as peasants and took the king to another country. When my father told me I felt very proud of him and I couldn't believe how brave he had been. After this, he married my grandma, and had a son, who is my father. In all he had four wives! He died when he was 84 years old. This hero saved lots of people's lives, he was very brave and he never gave up, that is why I chose him.

To conclude I'm really proud of him, and I can't believe I am his granddaughter. He is a hopeful example for the rest of my family. I think his life wasn't easy, and his life was wonderful thanks to his intelligence, his courage and his contributions to society in a positive way! I really enjoyed researching and writing about him.
