Rudi

My name is Madison and my hero is Rudi, my music teacher. He teaches me piano and voice. I chose him because he is an amazing music teacher who has inspired me and made me love music. He has an amazing ability to connect with children and always makes me want to do my best. Music makes our lives calm, makes us happy and entertains us. Music makes the world a better place and my world is a better place because Rudi is so important in it.

Rudi was born in Winkler, Manitoba. He has an older brother and a younger sister. Henry and Mary Dick are his parents. He is 41 and was born in 1963. Rudi has a wife named Jennifer and 2 daughters. His youngest daughter is Rachael and his oldest daughter is Kirsten.

I asked Rudi who or what inspired his love for music. He answered, "I grew up in a very musical family who attended a very musical church. My grandfather was a church musician and I was surrounded by great music ever since I was very young. I always loved music when I was a little boy. I really wanted to become an orchestra conductor. I was planning to study at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, but then I fell in love, got married and started a family. I decided to stay in Calgary, so I could become a music teacher and conduct some choirs, bands, and orchestras in the evening.

Rudi was 11 years old when he started music lessons. His favorite instrument is the piano and his favorite type of music is classical. Morgen, by Shumann and piano Sonata in c# minor, opus 27, and NO.2 (moonlight) are his favourite songs. Pianists Glen Goud and Louise Lortie and singer Ben Happener are Rudi's favorite musical artists.

Rudi's favourite part of teaching music is when his students get excited about the music, what it does for them, and how it speeks to them. He loves seeing students express their inner-thoughts and feelings through music. His least favorite part about teaching music is that he has to work into the night and wishes that he could work during the day when his friends are working and his children are in school. Rudi performs music as well as teaches it. Rudi would like to learn to teach music for theraputic and healing purposes.
