Susan B. Anthony was an important figure in the women's rights and movements suffrage. She was born in February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. She was the second oldest in seven children. Her parents were Daniel and Lucy Read Anthony. Susan went to a boarding school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until 1837, when the Great Depression started. The family moved to Rochester, New York where Susan became a teacher to help her father pay back all his debt. Their house turns into a place where anti-slavery activists come together to meet. Susan got involved with the women's rights suffrage in 1851, with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a close friend.
Susan went to her first women's right convention in 1852 and started campaigning and talking about women's rights and the end of slavery. Susan achieved many things like passing the New York State Married Woman's Property and Guardianship Law in 1860, organized Women's National Loyal League, began "The Revolution", a woman's cause weekly, wrote five volumes of History of Woman Suffrage, and was one of the first women to vote in an election. Even though Susan B. Anthony had many achievements, she also had many hardships. "The Revolution" went bankrupt, she was arrested after voting in the election, and she took the case to the Supreme Court but lost.
Susan B. Anthony had many characteristics that made her a hero to many. She persevered for her cause and never gave up. Fighting for rights and the rights of everyone that lived in America, was what Susan did her whole life. She didn't take no for an answer and didn't stop struggling to achieve what she thought was right, even if many people disagreed with her. Susan was also a very courageous person because she did many brave things like going to Supreme Court and fighting for a case, and going to jail for something she did that was not wrong. Susan B. Anthony was very dedicated in her work. She never stopped fighting for her cause until the last day of her life. She was also very independent in her work. She never needed anyone to support her and never asked for any help from others. She never showed any weakness or defeat, and didn't listen to people that said she was wrong. Susan B. Anthony was a very inspiring woman in our history and showed others to fight for what is right, no matter what others say or think.
