A hero is someone with courage- who guides and inspires others, who has hope and strength. Strength to see the bad in the world and help the people who are in need most of all. A hero is a person who gives. A celebrity is not a hero purely for being famous. A true hero should be admired for doing good deeds, not just looking good in front of the camera. My hero is Sandra Bullock because of how many good things she has succeeded in and helped other people.

In Arlington, Virginia on July 26, 1964, actor Sandra Bullock was born to a German opera singer mother and a voice teacher as a father. Her sister, Gesine Bullock, had supported her from the beginning. Through everything, Gesine and Sandra were together, traveling with their mother to her opera shows around the world. Occasionally, Sandra would be a part of the show and sing a few numbers. Attending Washington-Lee High School, Bullock performed in theater which was probably the start of her blossoming career. After finishing high school, she became a student at East Carolina University, North Carolina and studied acting. After college she moved to New York to pursue an acting career. Bullock appeared in many films such as Speed, Demolition Man, Miss Congeniality, The Proposal, and most recently, The Blind Side. After becoming such a phenomenal actress, Sandra Bullock started her own production company, Fortis Films. Along with her movie business, Sandra also owned a restaurant, Bess Bistro in Austin, Texas. Fans often come in to see if Bullock might be there. Sometimes though, many people don't have a clue that she even owns it!

Along with all the fame, Sandra Bullock married Jesse James on July 16, 2005. Although the first years were going well, after that Sandra had found out that James was cheating on her and filed for divorce on May 28, 2010. This was especially hard for Bullock because she had been planning to adopt a baby with Jesse and had already done the paperwork. Sandra showed the courage and despite everything that had happened, she went ahead anyways as a single mom and adopted a little baby boy, Louis Bardot Bullock, from New Orleans, Louisiana, in April of 2010. Sandra Bullock shows her efforts through the community. She has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross at least four times and $1 million to Doctors Without Borders. She has also started a petition for efforts to clean up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Bullock supports a non-profit organization in Texas called the Kindred For Life Foundation, Inc.

Sandra Bullock relates to me because of her strength which inspire me to help others when they are in their weaker points in life. Sandra does things in her own community that motivates me to affect my community positively. By the way she donates her money to different causes, it encourages me and others to start donating also! Sandra Bullock fits my definition of a hero because through all of the hard times that she may have had during filming, running her production company, or even with her ex-husband, she has shown courage and strength by helping other when she can.

Sandra Bullock is an ideal hero because of her noble accomplishments that she has achieved despite all her concerns with Jesse James. Even getting through the adoption process during her divorce with James, she showed bravery leaving her marriage knowing she would be a single parent raising a child while also working. Sandra Bullock is truly an inspiration to me and many others!
