Since my childhood, books have played a great deal of influence upon my decisions, outlooks and options. I read my first big book when I was 8 years old. It was "The Wizard of Oz" by Alexander Volkov. Then I enjoyed reading fantasy: e.g. "Harry Potter" by J. K. Rowling, "The Hunger Games" by S. Collins, "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis and some novels by Jules Verne. Sometimes I prefer reading classics like "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy or "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte. No wonder that a literary character has been chosen by me.

Sanya Grigoryev is one of my favorite heroes from the novel "The Two Captains" by Veniamin Kaverin. Sanya is my hero's name; it's a short name from Alexander. And Grigoryev is his family name.

The plot of the novel, based on some historical events between 1917 and 1944, depicts surprising turns of the hero's fate. In spite of his hard boyhood, Sanya had a dream of becoming a pilot. Once he found a mailman's bag filled with letters, some of them had been written by Captain Ivan Tatarinov to his wife. Sanya did his best to search for the lost expedition of the captain who had disappeared under strange circumstances in the Arctic before the First World War. The young man met Katya, the North explorer's daughter and they tried to find any truthful evidence about her father's real mission.

In my opinion, Sanya is a hero because he is brave, hardworking and smart. He follows his own principles; friendship, devotion and a sincere feeling of love help him overcome a lot of obstacles on the way to his dream. My literary hero becomes a winner with his vital motto: "To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield".
