Slash's final guitar |
Saul Hudson better known as Slash is best known for his role as lead guitarist in the well known band Guns N Roses. Slash was born in 1965 in a small town in London England. He was born to a Jewish father and a Nigerian mother. In the mid 1970's Slash relocated with his parents to Los Angeles, California. At the age of 14 Slash's grandmother gave him his first guitar. From that day forward the practice began, several hours every day Slash would confine himself to his room and practice. Finally he decided to quit school and commit all his time to rock and roll.

Music was the strongest influence in Slash's life he started by listening to the classics AC/DC Van Halen and Black Sabbath Iron Maiden and Led Zepllein. After listening to this music he decided he was going to let the music talk to him and began listening to more complicated music like Jimi Hendrix and thin lizzy. After failing numerous auditions for bands Slash and his childhood friend Steven Adler created The Road Crew in 1983. After calling it quits after a short while, Slash joined a local band known as The Black Sheep.
Slash's new found band the Black Sheep shared an agent with another upstart band known as the Hollywood Rose headed by Axl Rose. After performing an opening act with the Hollywood Rose Axl and Slash met. Shortly after, Slash was asked to join the newly revamped Guns N Roses and there you have Slash's first big band.
In 2005 I received a Peavey Raptor for Christmas. At first I wasn't very happy, even though I wanted to play guitar but I didn't want to take the time to learn. I just wanted to wake up in the morning and be able to solo like Jimi Hendrix. But of course I woke up in the morning and well... I couldn't solo. Shortly after I found an old tape amongst the home videos. On this tape was a live video of Slash playing with Guns and Roses. I was inspired, the next day I began playing, first came learning chords then strumming I tried to pick it up as fast as I could but guitar isn't easy. To this day I still try to play like Slash, but deep down I know he will always be the best.
