A lot of people knew Steve Irwin as “The Crocodile Hunter”. He went to over 300 different hospitals and had massive recoveries. A lot of Irwin’s injures were from snakes, crocodilians, cheetahs, birds, bugs, and other species. Irwin lived in the capital of venomous and poisonous animals in the world Australia. He had a black lab, a daughter, Bindi, his oldest, a son, Bob is the youngest, a wife, and a zoo.
At age 6 Steve got a Scrub Python and at age 9 Steve started wrestling crocodiles. Steve Irwin lived at Reptile and Fauna Park. Steve volunteered for the Queensland government's East Coast Crocodile Management Program after graduating high school. Steve's parents retired and handed the park over to Steve as owner. Not too soon after that, Steve renamed the park the Australia Zoo. Terri, his wife, went to the park and saw a show about crocodiles that Steve was running. She was from Ohio visiting Australia for the first time. Terri saw Steve holding a baby crocodile and said, “Ain’t she a beauty?” When Terri heard these words she thought to herself I never thought of someone calling a crocodile beautiful. Then they got married.
Steve Irwin made a show called “The Crocodile Hunter.” His favorite episode was when Terri had Bob. They were driving out to the scrubs one day when Terri said “I think my water broke. He’s on his way like now.” It’s all on an episode except for the part when baby Bob came out. On November 15, 2006, Bindi his daughter was getting a mid-ocean life video. Steve was appointing a stingray. When he was talking about the barb, he was struck in the heart with its barb. He was rushed to the hospital. The greatest animal trainer and tamer to every live animal didn’t make it. At the Australia Zoo they have Steve Irwin Day and a Steve Irwin exhibit of memories of Steve. There’s been rumors that Terri might not be able to handle the zoo alone and will close it for good.
Steve Irwin is my hero because he alone saved certain sick and hurt animals. He goes out of his way to help every animal from Lemurs to King Cobras. Animals loved him and he loved them. Once I sort of chuckled to myself because a reporter asked how the family love went. Steve replied “I love my kids, then my wife, then my animals, and then other relatives.” He kept Australia safe for animals and people. That’s why Steve is my hero.
