"Almost everything-all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure-these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart." (Jobs). Who knew that someone like Steve Jobs who had such a rough childhood, would end up being one of the biggest innovators of technology. Steve Jobs was born on February 24th 1955, in San Francisco California. Jobs had no idea who his parents were and soon realized that he was raised by his adoptive parents in Cupertino, Calif., which is located in what is now known as Silicon Valley.  Jobs was a genius, because he invented the company Apple. Being a college dropout, Jobs had the courage to get right back up and follow his dreams. It all started when he met up with his friend Steve Wozniak. Together they built the first Macintosh in their own garage, which happened to be a huge hit back then. Jobs and Wozniak made their first big fortune with the Macintosh soon followed by the ipod, macbook, itunes, ipad, etc. In 1985, Jobs resigned as Apple's CEO and began a new hardware and software company called NeXT, Inc. The following year Jobs purchased an animation company from George Lucas, which later became Pixar Animation Studios. Believe it or not, one of the most successful people in the world happened to be Steve Jobs. Unfortunately, in 2003 Jobs got diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. He put off surgery for about nine months while he tried alternative medicine approaches. He battled the ferocious cancer out for 8 years and sadly had to leave us on October 05, 2011 in Palo Alto, California. Steve Jobs had many astonishingly brilliant accomplishments in his lifetime. He changed the world of technology forever starting out by making the portable and user-friendly computer known as the Macintosh.  Steve Jobs portrays the traits courage for dropping out of college, charisma for battling pancreatic cancer, and determination for creating Apple.

Courage is something you gain after you fail many times. Steve Jobs had the courage to make himself a legendary in technology. At his college dropout speech, Jobs said that courage was something that was easily misunderstood: "Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength." (Jobs). This strongly symbolizes Steve Job's characteristics within himself. This is significant because many people in the world today give up after trying just once. It takes multiple times to try and get what you want, but if you don't have the courage to try again and again, you won't accomplish anything.  Even though Jobs was a college dropout, he made it through this world with one simple trait: Courage. Jobs truly acknowledges, that too many people don't listen to themselves, they listen to what others say and take that into consideration in their own decisions/actions:  "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma-which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." (Jobs).  Jobs is trying to say other's opinions shouldn't influence you, kind of like peer pressure. It's like saying your friend asks you to do drugs with him. Just because he is doing it, doesn't mean you have to go with that decision.  You have your own mind and heart, and you should go with your own gut feeling because that's what's best for you.  Steve Jobs has really shown courage because it takes a lot of courage to drop out of college. People could say things and spread rumors about you and bring you down, but remember that you shouldn't listen to what others have to say; you should listen to what your mind and soul says.

A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work; just like Steve Jobs did to make his own dream come true. Steve Jobs was always focused to bring the best to his company, Apple: "As a result, Jobs was squeezed out of his position and founded a new computer company, NeXT, and later made another fortune with Pixar Animation Studios, which he bought from filmmaker George Lucas. His comeback was complete when he stepped in as a consultant once again at Apple and oversaw three product lines, the iMac and iBook computers and iPod digital portable music device, which revitalized the company's image and sales." ("Steve Jobs." Newsmakers. Detroit: Gale, 2000. Gale Biography In Context. Web.)  No one would think that a humble guy wearing a black turtleneck and jeans would make such a huge success in our world. Steve Job's determination would never cease. He never failed to impress with the products he made. His focus and determination in giving the best for his fans was unstoppable. Jobs was probably one of the most determined and willing people to fulfill and accomplish his dreams: "We started out to get a computer in the hands of everyday people, and we succeeded beyond our wildest dreams," Jobs remarked to Cathy Booth in Time. The company's fortunes then flagged as competitors flooded the market, so Apple developed the Macintosh in the mid-1980s, which set a new standard for ease of use." ("Steve Jobs: The Man Who Saved Apple." Macworld 28.11 (2011): 14. MAS Ultra - School Edition. Web.) Jobs was always determined to innovate more every time. Jobs started out with the Macintosh, and went on to mp3/ipods, ipads, itunes, etc. He always blew the world away and most of all himself. Despite getting fired from Apple, having pancreatic cancer, or even having financial problems, he made it clear that he was going to get done what he wanted.

As Steve Jobs once said:  "I was worth over $1,000,000 when I was 23, and over $10,000,000 when I was 24, and over $100,000,000 when I was 25, and it wasn't that important because I never did it for the money." (Jobs). Steve Jobs was a courageous man because he withheld with pancreatic cancer for 8 whole years. While he was battling out cancer, he managed to make Apple the best technology company there was. Everyone loved Apple and they made a huge fortune with Jobs' amazing products that came one after another. Nevertheless, Jobs was always determined to bring out the best in his products. He didn't care if he was the richest person in the world, or the most poor. All he wanted to do was to deliver what people loved. Because when the Apple-lovers were happy, he was happy. His charismatic attitude was priceless.  Steve Jobs inspires me because he went after his dreams. He didn't care if he was a college dropout, or he didn't care about what other people had to say. He went on with his own heart and intuition and that got him far. I think he's inspirational to all the people who thought that they couldn't accomplish something because they have a disease or whatnot. His lesson for people should be that no matter how you are whether it's being disabled, mental, or even just not having the guts; you can do something great in your life.  "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma-which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice." (Jobs).

There are many charismatic people in the world, but the ones that really count such as Steve Jobs, are the ones who inspire to a point where it affects other people's actions. Steve Jobs was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer, but managed to handle everything at once despite that: "In 2003 Steve Jobs was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. He put off surgery for about nine months while he tried alternative medicine approaches. In 2004 he underwent major reconstructive surgery, known as the Whipple operation." (Britannica Biographies).  Staying positive and hopeful is all you need in a situation like this, and that's exactly what Jobs did. If you aren't positive about your health, then that's they way you'll feel. Steve Jobs was quite a charismatic person because he created the well-known company Apple, with just starting out in his garage with his friend named Stephen Wozniak: "In 1976 when Jobs was just 21, he and Wozniak started Apple Computers. The duo started in the Jobs family garage, and funded their entrepreneurial venture after Jobs sold his Volkswagen bus and Wozniak sold his beloved scientific calculator." (Newsmakers. Detroit: Gale, 2000. Gale Biography In Context. Web.) I think Jobs and Wozniak accomplished a lot during their early 20's, because they gave up everything they had for what they loved to do. He started in his garage with Niak and they made the most portable and friendly user computer named the Macintosh. All in all, Steve Jobs was a charismatic person, because despite the fact that he had pancreatic cancer, he still was able to surprise everyone, but he happened to be quite clever because he put health before money.
