Soundiata Keita was an emperor of Mali. He was born in 1190 in Niani and deceased in 1250
Heroic act The son of sogolon (Soundiata) tore off the shaft of the baobab and put on his shoulders. He threw the shaft in front of the box of his mother and said, "Mother here are the leaves of the baobab now for thee, now all the women of Niani will supply." Soundiata was a hunter recognized in exile. Soundiata developed the trade, the mining of gold and of new cultures.
The history of Soundiata is essentially known by the epic, told from generation to generation. Nare Maghan Konate was a king of the Manding a small kingdom of West Africa. Some year later, two hunters from countries of do him exhibited a woman ugly, Sougoulou Kante, remembered the prediction he married. His second wife giving birth to a son named Soundiata Keita; the latter will remain reversed during all his childhood unable to stand.
I chose Soundiata as my hero because he was a brave man and was also a political man. The history of Soundiata really touched me.
