When most people hear the word "hero" they usually think of Batman, Superman, and Spider-man, etc. Some people might think the word "hero" means someone who saves people from any kind of danger. My definition of hero is someone who inspires you, who you look up to and of course someone who's always there for you. Well, to me my hero is my eighth grade English teacher, Sofia Dei Kind.

She's not only a teacher, but a mother as well of a beautiful young girl. Through my eyes, Ms. Kind is truly like nobody else, there is no one in this world who she can be compared with. Ms. Kind, not like many people, actually likes teenagers. For instance, Ms. Kind's number one reason on going back to work is because of the kids, who go through so many problems in life, and still manage to get an A in class. In other words, she was not only a teacher to me but also a mom.

The one thing I really love about Ms. Kind is that she understands us. I feel like I can connect with her. Ms. Kind although did have a bad high school year, and she managed to survive. She said her high school, Leuzinger High, was full of girls wanting to fight her and gentleman trying to protect her. No matter how hard her past was she always managed to keep her head up. She said that the people in her past and their negativity have made her stronger. I asked her what her inspiration in life was and she responded "the book called Ecclesiastes", as you can see not just people can inspire you, like in this case for my teacher it was a book. Even though she was just an English teacher she always managed to teach us something about life, something more than a regular teacher would teach.

I admit teaching at Prairie Vista Middle School is hard, due to the fact that there were some students who misbehaved and didn't pay attention. I truthfully would have to say that Ms. Kind was honestly one of the best teachers around, and not just from my point of view other Prairie Vista students as well. The way Ms. Kind taught was different; she taught us how to be respectful young ladies and gentleman. I remember her always holding the door before class and greeting us in. She taught us more than education, she taught us about life itself.

All in all, as Ms. Kind said, "Family isn't just family because you have the same blood type, the actual meaning of family are those who care for you and protect you". I consider Ms. Kind as part of my family, even though she's just an English teacher; she is more than that through my eyes. She is one of the biggest inspirations in my life who indeed changed me into a better person. She will always be more than just a superhero in a comic book to me; she'll be my hero, in my world. If it wasn't for her, I can honestly say I wouldn't be heading towards a very successful path into my life right now.
