Susan G. Komen was born in the 1943. In the mid 1970's Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer. Susan G. Komen went to college in Texas. She went and had subcutaneous mastectomy therapy done. Susan thought that cured her problems, but six months later she was diagnosed again with breast cancer. After, she had gone to a clinic. Once she got to the clinic they told her that the cancer spread to one of her armpits and one of her lungs. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1980.

How is Susan G. Komen a hero? 1. She fought very hard for her life. 2. She always put other people in front of herself even while she had cancer and was trying to save her life. 3. There is a race now named after her that we know as the "Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure". The race has gotten almost two billion dollars to find a cure.
