But he excelled at one sport more than any others, and that was Basketball. Being the oldest child in his family, he served as a role model to his younger siblings, and what a great job he did. Nash shined on and off the court creating his own charity in 2001, his charities name is the Steve Nash Foundation and it's focus is on helping underserved children with health, education and a little bit of basketball skills. Nowadays Nash is #40 and playing with the Los Angeles Lakers, assisting yet another team with his high intellect and passing abilities. Nash also hosts his annual charity basketball game every year and attracts over 10,000 youth players that his charity supports to teach them about the fun of basketball. The Steve Nash Foundation was given charitable status by the U.S government in 2004 and charitable status in Canada in 2007. To this day his foundation gives the gift of assist to underserved children who his family and him help all those kid kids with developing the right education, health and enjoyment of life. For a person to be a hero, a person must possess selflessness and be caring for other people. Selflessness for putting other people before yourself and caring because of all the people he has helped. Steve Nash is a hero because he has a selfless spirit, a caring heart, and an aura of inspiration to everyone.
A benevolent athlete with a heart big enough to almost spend all of his spare time to charity efforts and helping children in need. A person who grew up loving his family, especially his younger siblings, he strived to be a role model for them. Instead Steve Nash became a role model for millions of children worldwide. "In 2005 Nash hosted the inaugural Steve Nash Foundation Charity Classic basketball game in Toronto. His basketball league in Vancouver, British Columbia, involves more than 10,000 youths."(Gale). Every year Steve Nash hosts his annual youth basketball game, attracting thousands of young kids to come and play basketball with Steve Nash. While there Steve Nash personally gives lectures to kids about the good and the bad of life. His caring spirit for the kids lead to his goal to improve both their education, and lifestyle. Like wise Steve Nash attempted to spread his good spirit through the NBA as well."Nash was not afraid to share his opinion. He wore a controversial T-shirt during a media conference before the game. The shirt read "No War--- Shoot For Peace."(Basen). Nash just doesn't care for the people he knows, he cares for everyone in the world. In 2003 The U.S was planning on starting a war with Iraq, Nash didn't care about sharing his mind. Nash spoke his mind without hesitation and was criticized horribly for it. Nash couldn't care less for all the criticism he endured.In Nash's mind he knew that war was not the answer and he wanted to keep the peace among the two nations. Steve Nash is not afraid to speak his mind because he knows in order to make the world a better place, everyone must care for one another.
For a person to be known as a hero, he or she must put others before him or herself, he or she must be selfless.There are uncounted amounts of characteristics that a good person possesses. But there only are a few characteristics that a hero possesses, and one of those characteristics is selflessness. Steve Nash is a man with a giving heart. He is a leader on and off the court and he earns the respect of anyone he talks to. His charity efforts support thousands of children and help them obtain a better education, and a healthier lifestyle. His selflessness has lead to an entire cardiology unit to be funded in Paraguay, where did his efforts go this time, to saving the lives of people. To this day his foundation gives the gift of assist to underserved children who his family and him help all those kid kids with developing the right education, health and enjoyment of life. To this day his foundation gives the gift of assist to underserved children who his family and him help all those kids with developing the right education, health and the ability to enjoy life. Through that development, all of those children leave with a greater understanding of how to live life and the right way to live it. Steve Nash, ever since he made it into the NBA, has set his goal to share his wealth, and help undeserved people to improve their education, and life. He directed his foundation to kids and he holds an annual charity basketball game every year in Toronto, Canada for kids of all ages to come and play Basketball, while learning about health and the enjoyment of life.Altruistic, noble, loving, these are all synonyms for what Steve Nash represents and that is selfless.
Steve Nash deserves to be called a hero because he is selfless, caring, and inspires everyone. Steve Nash's charity works have benefited thousands of underserved children and he has inspired hundreds of thousands of kids to go outside and play a sport. Steve Nash inspires the hearts of many athletes nowadays, because of how hard he has worked to earn everything he has in present day. This man as a young child barely touched a basketball until one day in high school he started to play, and now he is possibly one of the greatest of all time and will certainly go into the hall of fame once he retires. Steve Nash's story alone can inspire hundreds of kids to play sports even or start their own charity.He has personally inspired myself in a way that I want to strive to make it to a professional level in a sport and help people in need and do something great for the world. Steve Nash deserves be known as a hero world wide because of all his charity and basketball efforts throughout his lifetime.
