"I would love to see the day when everyone is debt free and our country is once again managing our debt wisely."

Imagine you are living your life paycheck by paycheck and can barely manage to pay your rent let alone feed and clothe your family. You then learn that you have been laid off from your job. What do you do at this point in your life? Most Americans have noticed that we live in a time where more and more people lose their jobs, houses, and means to support their families each day. This brings the importance of managing money skyrocketing. Experiences like the one above do not just apply to certain people; it can easily apply to anyone, even to the extent of our country and other countries. Our country might seem fine right now but what happens when China and other countries decide to stop buying our debt? What happens then? Do we become The States of China?

There was a time when I believed money grew on trees; that time is long gone now. While growing up I have seen family and friends alike go through tough times; however, our population has recently been the hardest hit with unemployment. Despite this setback, I have seen people that do make it through these tough times. One of the main changes in their lives has been that they have had to manage and save their money instead of buying unnecessary items or services. People need to change the way that they think. Believe it or not there are plenty of ways for us to cut back on our expenditures. The littlest things add up to quite a bit. Ironically, those who struggled a great deal and went through many issues have not had the greatest of financial skills. To my knowledge when you put into practice money management and sticking to a budget, you are more prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you.

The United States of America is 11,789,296,529,031.51+ in debt while the debt increases 3.90 billion per day. This point alone proves that money management and having a budget is key. As if that was not enough, 44 percent of Americans have some form of debt. Although our country has budget, it most definitely does not suit the needs of our country and hasn’t for quite some time now. I can see the people around me losing their houses, every day increasing. This not only is a terrible situation for them but also for neighbors. Having vacant houses and repos right next to theirs or down the street can bring down their own house value by a great amount. This also presents a problem for the community because it is very difficult to sustain a good community with a number of homes sitting empty, being overrun by nature.

Suze Orman is a huge advocate for money management. She definitely did not grow up in a household with much money. When she was in her younger years she moved away with her friends to California and became a waitress. Her home consisted of a van. One day at work a customer gave her a gift of 50,000 dollars to follow her dream, instead she invested it. However things got sticky from there, she was guided into some bad investments but later regained her money’s worth and paid back the kind man. From then on she had many successful careers, none of which involved her sleeping in a van again. Now she has her own financial planning firm along with a talk show. She also has written numerous financial planning books. Today she helps and encourages people to take charge of their personal finances along with teaching them what is needed to prosper in this world that revolves around money.

To make a difference for my issue I will be one less person to fall into any form of debt. I will also do my best to help those in need. I would help people who are struggling with debt along with helping prevent people from getting into it. I would love to see the day when everyone is debt free and our country is once again managing our debt wisely. The sad truth of the matter is that without change and a lot of action, none of that will happen. That is why I am so delighted that we have people in the world who want to change and help others overcome their financial difficulties such as Suze Orman. She has taken the lead in finances and more individuals like herself need to be involved in our government today.
