Selena Quintanilla Perez

On April 16, 1971 the Queen on Tejano was born. Her name was Selena Quintanilla . She has been my hero since I was little and is still my hero today. When she was little her family knew she was gonna be a big star as she got older and well she proved that she was gonna strive for it and she did. On April 2, 1992 Selena married her lead guitarist Christopher Perez. On March 31, 1995 Selena was pronounced dead at the hospital after being shot in the back by Yolanda Saldivar who was her fan club president.

My hero produced many albums during her lifetime. Her first hit was Buenos Amigos, which hit number one on the Latin charts. In 1993 her album Selena Live! Won a Grammy for best Mexican-American album. In February of 1994 Selena broke her own record crowd of about 61 thousand people. She had four number one singles in 1994.

My hero was born in lake Jackson, Texas. Later on in her life her family decided to move to Corpus Christi, Texas. She lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for the rest of her life. My hero lived from 1971 to 1995, which wasn’t long ago.

Selena is important to me because everything that she has done she never gave up on which showed me that you should never give up on anything, especially your dreams. She has made a difference in my life because there have been times where I felt like nothing was going to get better and I wanted to give up but I never did. She always inspires me to sing to my fullest no matter what.

What I am doing to follow in her footsteps is to get an education, never give up, always follow your dream and never let anyone stop you from doing the thing that you love best and in this case the thing I love to do is sing.
