Selena Quintanilla, she is the Queen of Tejano Music. Selena was an amazing artist. She sang alongside her family and friends and designed all her outfits. She became known for breaking stereotypes in music by becoming the first mainstream female artist in Tejano music which was mostly men back in the day. She had an amazing voice and she sang as a child in a restaurant her father owned. Her career was based on gigs her father planned for her family, that only jump-started her amazing career.

Who is Selena? She is an artist from the 1980's, of Tejano music. Selena was born in Lake Jackson, Texas, in April 16, 1971. She was usually known as the "Queen of Tejano" and "Mexican Madonna" . She started singing every time her father played the guitar and her father really found talent in her. Her father later bought a small building and created a small Mexican restaurant where she played alongside her brother and sister. She sang while her brother and her sister played instruments. She then started playing bigger gigs, she loved singing in front of crowds. From a young age she knew that would be her passion.

Selena's biggest influence was always her father. He made them do a little band after realizing the Selena had a true talent. He started the band, Selena y Los Dinos. At first they would rather play outside because no kid played in bands, but her father didn't let that happen. Instead he had them play and they loved that their dad did that. He was her dad, inspiration, and her manager. Her dad planned her gigs and made sure she was A1 okay. He told her that she could reach for the stars.
