Steven Spielberg

by Michael from Mission Viejo

"I dream for a living."

When I first became aware of my personal career hero about five or six years ago, I really started to become very interested in the industry. The movie-making industry began to be a top career choice for me. I have seen some movies he has directed and really admired his work. What attracts me to his career is not only the business side of it but also what you get to wake up and do every day. For most jobs it's wake up and go sit at a desk for a day and work on a computer. But with this job it’s something new everyday, the experiences and the people you work with, I think make a job like this really fun. I also love the city of Los Angeles and it would be a dream come true to work within the city.

Being a director requires lots of skills and college is recommended. Directors must have strong leadership skills to communicate what they want the shot or scene to look like. In other words the director is the guy who is responsible for making the scene in either a movie or TV show happen. By overseeing the script, scene and other aspects of the movie. Salary can depend on the movie you are currently directing and what production company is paying you. For the most part the directors do pretty well though.

Spielberg had always been interested in the entertainment business working as an intern at Universal Studios as a young man. But he also put a lot of hard work into getting to where he is today. Making countless short home-made films, some that succeeded and others that did not. Spielberg as you can tell by what he has accomplished today that he never was willing to back down. From making just short, mini, homemade movies when he was a kid to making muti-million dollar films today Steven has always loved dreaming up and directing new movies.

As Success Magazine says “Profits from the fantasies they share with their audiences are providing real foundations to support causes they believe in and opportunities for others to live their dreams.” Spielberg with as successful as he is, does not keep all of it for himself. Making sure that everybody who supports them and everybody that is not as fortunate as he is, that these people have the chance to make their dreams come true, too. Spielberg gives back, not only to his community, but all around the world.

To end up as a famous director in Hollywood someday with a very nice lifestyle, will not be easy. First I will have already set many goals for myself in school and where I want my future to end up. First I plan to graduate high school and go on to a four year university. Here I hope to study something in the field of directing film/performing arts or whatever it may be. Then after I finish up all my schooling, I hope to find a job with some production company doing anything in the movie business just to get feet wet in the industry even if I am just moving props around on a set. I will work hard to work my way up, to becoming a success. For now, I can start involving myself in things like stagecraft at my high school. One day I hope to end up on the set of the next big movie.
