“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”

Heroism: What is a hero?
Most dictionaries describe a hero as
a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble quality. But a hero could be much more than that. In my opinion, a hero is someone who's not afraid to do what's right regardless of what other people are doing. A hero is selfless, has a strong mind, courage, and isn't afraid to stick with what they believe in. A hero is someone who stands up for what is right even when everyone else is sitting down. A hero influences others to become a hero.
Is it important to have a hero?
Is it important to have a hero? I believe it is. Even if the person isn't necessarily a
hero, it's important to have a good influence to look up to. A person's hero could be their mother, father, neighbor, brother, cousin, teacher, coach, or it could be an icon they see in movies or on TV every day. But a hero should influence you and persuade you to do the right thing whether you know them personally or not.
My Personal Hero
My personal hero isn't someone I see in movies or TV. My hero isn't my mother, or father, neighbor, brother, cousin, teacher, or coach. My hero is my grandmother. She is my hero because she's strong-minded, generous, caring, and always does what she believes is the right thing. She gives her last before she gets, even to complete strangers. Though she's been through a lot, she's kept her head up. I've never seen her any less than happy. Even if she won the lottery, she'd give the money before she spent it on herself. That's why she's my hero.
My grandmother should be in the Hero Hall of Fame because even when she's had the worst day ever, she still has a smile on her face.
Hero Interview
1. What is your personal definition of a hero?
A. A hero is someone who stands up for what's right no matter what the consequences.
2. Who is your hero? Why?
A. My hero was my mom. She was so caring, giving, loving, and courageous. She was humble and would come to anyone's aid and give her last to whoever it was who needed it, even if it means she went without. She could do anything.
3. How does a person become a hero?
A. I think they become a hero by doing what's necessary and not looking for anything in return.
4. Do you consider yourself a hero? Why?
A. Yeah, I do. Because I like to do what's right for people without looking for anything in return.
5. What's the difference between a hero and a good influence?
A. To me it's close because a person that is a hero becomes a hero by being a good influence. Just by showing other people what's right.
6. If you could be any super hero, who would it be? Why?
A. If I could be any hero, it would be Super Woman because Super Woman saves people in disguise so no one knows who she is. I think that when you do something for people you should do it just because it needs to happen, and because you want to.
