Shawn Johnson

Shawn Johnson was born on January 19, 1992. Shawn's parents enrolled her in gymnastics at age three, after they kept having to tell her not to climb on the cabinets or jump off tables. Shawn is now 19 years old. At age six Shawn was attending Liang Chow's gymnastics school in West Des Moines and was the first one to join. Shawn is still enrolled in Liang Chows gymnastics today.

In 2004, Shawn competed in the Junior Olympics National Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around, first on beam, and second on floor. Being so young Shawn was not scouted by USAG. In 2005 a video was sent to Marta Karolyi, with a comment saying, " i believe this kid will help the U.S.A team." After the video was sent Shawn was invited to national team training camp. Shawn qualified Junior International Elite on her very first attmept. Shawn's career was well on its way.

Shawn Johnson is my hero. Her career started just from jumping off the tables and climbing on cabinets. She beat so many people at such a young age. All Johnson did was believe in herself and she came so far. She now inspires many young people all around the world. Shawn came so far in her career and has been in the Olympics and she's only 19. And that is why Shawn Johnson is my hero.
