Hi, my name is Thomas. Scott Moir is my hero because he went up in front of the world in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic XXI games and did something great by winning a gold medal in figure skating. He was the youngest person to win the ice dance and he is also the first person in North America to have ever won the ice dance; plus, he won it on home ice. He did not do it for the medals, or the fame, he did it because he wanted to and because he thought it was fun.
Scott Moir was born in London, Ontario on September 2, 1987 but he was raised in Ilderton, Ontario. He helps coach the Ilderton skating club. He lives in Canton, Michigan. Most of Moir's family are skaters- his cousins Sheri and Cara even competed in the 2007 world synchronized skating championships! Moir began skating with Virtue in 1997, and in the 2003-2004 season the pair moved up to junior level, and advanced to senior level internationally in the 2006-2007 season.
Some of Moir's favourite things are- the colour red, poppy flowers, chocolate milk as a drink, Eatmore chocolate bars, the numbers 17 and 14. He likes to wear hoodies, eat watermelons and nibs. His favourite town is Ilderton, Ontario and his favourite sport to play is golf and to watch is Hockey. I too like hoodies, watermelons, hockey and chocolate bars!
Scott Moir has participated in many competitions, including 7 Junior Grand Prix, 1 Grand Prix, 1 World Junior Championship, 1 World Championship, 1 Junior Grand Prix Final, 1 Grand Prix Final, the Canadian Championship, World Championships and 2 Four Continents Championships. He has won 17 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals in various international competitions and world championships across the globe. Of course, he has also won the gold medal in figure skating for the Vancouver Winter Olympic XXI games. I think it's pretty cool that he has won so many gold medals.
Scott Moir is definitely one of the best figure skaters across the globe. I respect him for that because he is a role model of bravery and training hard. I am proud to be his fan.
