Anwar Al Sadat

by Youssof from Cairo

“Peace is more important than a piece of land’ the wise man once said. He was an intelligent man, the way his decisions always turned out to be right. The hope he gave to people came from the beautiful words and speeches he told. His courage was unexplainable. His faith was undeniable. Most and best of all, he knew how to put a smile on a person’s face. He was the former president of Egypt. His name was Anwar al Sadat.

As a person, Anwar al Sadat was a warmhearted and caring person. He was loved by many people, mostly by the citizens of Egypt, the country he was the president of. From how smart he was people called him a fortune teller, the way all of his decisions paid off in time. Anwar al Sadat was born on the 25th of December, 1918 in Mit Abul Kom, a town north of Cairo which considered by the British, was a British colony. Sadat completed a grade school education so that meant he learned well. He was so respected and loved that Time Magazine named him Man of the Year 1977! Anwar al Sadat had a big family consisting of 4 kids and 2 wives. He was also humorous the way that whenever he went somewhere he would put a lot of happiness in it.

Anwar al Sadat had many accomplishments. The most important one was inventing the peace treaty and making peace between Egypt and Israel, after doing that Sadat received a Nobel Peace Prize. Jimmy Carter helped Sadat with getting most of the people in the room for the signing and he also debated with Anwar al Sadat about it. Another accomplishment Anwar al Sadat achieved was making Egypt look like a better country in front of the whole world by his astounding thoughts.

Anwar Al Sadat deserves to be called a hero because of the man he was, what he did and his accomplishments. Sadat knew how to make peace between Egypt and Israel, something that lots of countries are trying to do. Another reason was his knowledge; it was outstanding, the way he knew about how all his choices helped his nation to be in peace. The most thing that stood out of Anwar al Sadat was that he always believed in Peace, not war. Sadat always wanted to have a relationship with everyone and it sure did work. He was spectacular.

Sadat usually ended his speeches by saying parts of the Quran or prayers. The passage he usually said meant “God, since you have given me what I have wanted and what is right, please do not let me ruin or destroy it”. That prayer is most known for when he ended his speech in Israel. Anwar al Sadat is an icon and a leader but most of all, he is a hero.
