Sherry Hodges

by Brandon from Georgia

My hero is Mrs. Sherry Hodges, but I know her as my mom. My mom was born in Fort Valley, Georgia. I have known my mom for 11 years. She lived in Fort Valley and then moved to Macon, Georgia. There, she started working at Merrill Lynch. Then in 1991, she moved to here.

Some examples of my mother’s heroism are that she is responsible. My mom has always been responsible for my sister and me, and her work. My mom always double checks things for the safety of our family. My mom is also trustworthy. She always tells me the truth. She is the most trustworthy person I know. My mom can be trusted with other peoples’ dilemmas, and she can be trusted with other peoples’ money. That is why she is a great broker. I can go to my mom any day with my problems, and I know that she will not tell anyone about them. My mom is very considerate of others. When someone is sick, she’ll help prepare a dinner for that person. She gives a lot to our church and to my school. The world needs a few more considerate people like my mom.

My mom is very spiritual. She’ll take my sister and me to church on Sunday, and she’ll take us to church on Wednesday nights. My mom strives in everything because of two things, the Lord, and my sister and me. She is determined when problems come along. She always gets through the tough problems. My mom pays the bills, buys the food, pays for my schooling, and raises us so well. Without my mom I wouldn’t know skills that will get me through life. Also without my mom, I would probably not be loved as much by another mom.

My mom is very different from an ancient Greek hero, but she does have a few similarities. My mom is very brave. She can face anyone when a problem comes around. Also she is smart like a few Greek heroes. She works at a job that requires math. Also she raises me the smartest way she knows. She is different from an ancient Greek hero because she isn’t the strongest person in the world. She also wouldn’t kill anything. These are reasons why my mom, is my hero.
