Everyone is a hero. Even in the smallest measurement, we are all heroes. There are people whose measurements are a bit bigger than others. One of those people would be Red Skelton, one of the greatest comedians of all time. I'm sure you have heard that before about someone else, but this time I really mean it. It is sad that my age group doesn't appreciate history like that. I mean, nowadays, all we care about is the now, not the then, although most of our singers and movie stars got their inspiration from the old singers and movie stars. I mean we all start somewhere, don't we? I think so, so keep reading and I'll tell you more about my hero, Red. Oh, did I mention that he was an artist, too? Well, like most biographies, you have to start at the beginning.

Red was born on July 18, 1913, in Vincennes, Indiana. He died September 17, 1997, at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, USA. Well now that's out of the way, let's get to it. The greatest man to have ever lived was Red Skelton. He once said that there was a group of ten year-olds stuck in his body and that was why he was so funny. He was so childish. That was what made him so unique. He often laughed at himself because he knew what he was going to say before the audience did. So, he would start to crack up before he could say one word and the audience knew then that it was going to be a good one.

He was a good man, very kind-hearted and just the sweetest thing you ever did see. He also had a sense of humbleness about him, too. It was like he was the one who had the honor of having his guests on the show, no matter who it was, whether it was just a regular actor from the show or a big-time actor like John Wayne. He made everyone feel unique. He made them feel like they added a little something good to the world that made it better.

Red was a selfless person, always doing something for someone else. But his favorite way of giving was entertaining viewers at home with his show. So, now we all know that he was an actor with his own show, but did you know that he was also an artist? You may have seen some of his paintings, maybe or not, but that's OK. He loved to paint clowns. They were his favorite and that just goes to show that all he wanted was to make people happy. He painted all kinds of clowns. He painted them happy, sad, and all of them in-between. They were always bright and colorful, so as to brighten up your day. He only started to paint a lot in his later years when he was unable to act, which was sad, but we appreciated it. So if you are ever in need for some inspiration, just type Red Skelton in on Google and go exploring and have fun and, oh yeah, be happy.
