Sister Souljah has many accomplishments which include, a female rapper, a community activist, actress and an author. She has been a hero in so many different ways.
Sister Souljah was born Lisa Williamson, in Bronx New York. She grew up in the Projects and that alone made her want to make some changes in not only her life, but the life of others. She attended Rutgers University. She also attended Cornell University and studied abroad at Salamanta in Spain. Lisa was also a global student. She traveled through college to England, France, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Russia, South America, and Africa. While traveling she meet Sean "P Diddy" Combs". Lisa was also an up coming rapper. From there on she put out her first album, 360 Degrees of Power. Her album did well on the charts. Lisa has worked with P Diddy, Lauryn Hill, Doug E. Fresh, and Public Enemy. Lisa was now known to the world.
Now that Lisa was known around the world, she took advantage of that. She became a community activist. Lisa developed and financed the African Youth Survival Camp for Children of the Homeless. This camp lasted for six weeks and made a difference in 200 children's lifes. This Camp ran for over 3 consecutive years. "As a community activist, Lisa organized against racially motivated crimes, the miseducation of urban youth and police brutality. She produced and promoted several outdoor rallies and concerts, in Harlem NY, which drew nearly 30,000 youth each time, as well as the participation of top Hip-Hop and R&B celebrities." Lisa worked as a volunteer at a medical center in Mtepa, a village located in Zimbabwe. Lisa never forgot where she came from and she has tried hard to give back to the community.
Lisa made her acting debut on the sitcom, "A Different World," and has appeared on Oprah, The Today Show, MTV and BET. She has also been profiled in Essence, Entertainment Weekly, George, Jet, Sister to Sister, Rolling Stone, Newsweek and Time. Lisa travels around to the world to speak to young teens and help them make better choices in their lives.
Sister Souljah is a very accomplished author. "The Coldest Winter Ever," is a best seller. In result of that, HBO wants to make a movie deal with her. So there may be a movie to this book. Jada P. Smith will produce that. She also wrote "NO Disrespect" which was also a top seller.
Lisa has been married for ten years and has one child. She is currently the executive director of the Daddy's House Social Programs. This is a non profit corporation for the urban youth, financed by Sean Combs. Many people attempt to silence Sister Souljah's powerful voice, but she has still been able to reach and help others.
