Can you imagine yourself being the Princess of England and still having the time and hope to be helping others around the whole world? This Princess has been known for charity, campaigning against the use of landmines, and trying to destroy the stigma associated with AIDS. This is what Princess Diana tried to do. One person I know who describes this type of hero is Princess Diana.

The hero who inspires me is Princess Diana. Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961, in England. Princess Diana’s original name was Lady Diana Frances Spencer. She was the daughter of Edward John Spencer and his wife Frances. Princess Diana married King Charles in the summer of 1981. They then had two children. Prince William and Prince Henry were their children. After the birth of Prince William, Princess Diana suffered from an eating disorder. When pregnant with Prince Henry, Princess Diana had almost committed suicide. Later, in the years of the 1980’s, the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana fell apart. After the marriage had fallen apart, Princess Diana became more interested in other people's needs. After a big car crash in Paris, Princess Diana passed on August 31, 1997. Even though Princess Diana is gone, she has shown how she became an even bigger hero and princess.

Why is Princess Diana a hero? Princess Diana is not only a Princess, but a hero to others in desperate need. During the mid to late 80s, Diana was becoming better known for charity, campaigning against the use of landmines, and destroying the stigma associated with AIDS.

Princess Diana is an example of a hero to others near and far. Diana did not only help herself, with her eating disorder, but she helped others who needed money, or medicine. For charity work, Diana was associated with 150 and even more charities. She was President of more than 90 of the 150 charities. Two of the charities that she was President of were the National AIDS Trust and the Royal Marsden NHS Trust in London at the cancer hospital. Diana helped and enjoyed using her name to raise money for children’s funds and for hospitals for good causes. Princess Diana also helped the Red Cross. In 1995, Princess Diana won a Humanitarian award in recognition for all of her charity work. Princess Diana also cared about the problem of landmines. She mostly paid attention to the landmines in Angola. Her interest in landmines was focused on how many injuries that they cause to children. After all the conflicts about landmines, the British government and many other nations began the signing of the Ottawa Treaty. This treaty was to ban all anti-personnel landmines. The Treaty began all of its work in 1997, after Princess Diana’s death.

As you have seen, Princess Diana has shown many skills on how to be a hero. I know that she has inspired me to help others. Instead of just ignoring the situation, you could be a hero and save someone’s life. I have learned a lot about Princess Diana and how you should never not help anyone, but how you should always lend a helping hand.
