Saint Mary Magdalene was known as a disciple of Jesus. She was very much devoted to him. Her feast day is July 22nd. Mary was thought to be from the town of Magdala which was on the western shore of Galilee. Mary was known to have had 7 demons leave her body. People saw her as a penitent sinner or prostitute.

She was born in the 1st century AD in Magdala. She died in the 1st century AD in Ephesus, Asia Minor, or Marseilles France. Mary was known to be very beautiful and have long hair. Some people said she was this wife or "girl friend" of Jesus but there is no proof that she was. Although in the Gospel of Philip it simply depicts Mary was being the closest disciple to Jesus.

Mary was Jesus' closest follower. During Jesus' crucifixion she was there at his feet. She never left his side. After Jesus was placed in the tomb, Mary went there and found him gone. He then appeared after risen. Mary was the first person Jesus showed himself to after rising.

Once when at a banquet after the crucifixion, Mary stated, with an egg in her hands, that Jesus has risen. She was laughed at by Caesar and he said it was not likely, just as likely as the egg in her hands turning to red. The egg in her hand then turned to the brightest shade of red and proved to them all that he had risen.

Even though Mary Magdalene was a sinner and was known as a prostitute, she worked very hard to change her ways. She fell in love with Jesus and wanted nothing more than to be close to him. Jesus knew that she was sorry for the sins she had done and he forgave her for them all. She changed so much and became a wonderful person. People started to respect her more. Because she had a huge formation and changed for the good of all, she is now a saint.
