Besides Jesus Christ, my hero would be my mom. I love both my parents to death but if it wasn't for my mother I don't know where I would be now. She brought love, joy, happiness and especially Christ into my life. My mother is not a famous person nor a smart genius. She is someone who I cry to when I feel down and someone who I truly love. I believe that her story should be heard because she is the meaning in my life and the reason why I live.
Growing up, my mom's goal was to become a teacher. But God lead her down a different path and instead she joined the Air force. After the Air force she gave birth to my oldest brother Tristan, then met my father Lupe at Maili Beach. My father and mother dated for about two years before getting married. My mom then gave birth to my second oldest brother, Matthew, before flying up to North Carolina due to my father's service in the army.
While in North Carolina she gave birth to me and my sister Susan. We continued to live there until I was about the age of 7 months old, then we moved back down to Hawaii to live. The hardest obstacle that my mother had to face would be when we returned. There was no where else we could afford to live except my grandfather's shack up Lualualei Valley. The roof leaked, there was no electricity, hot water or extra rooms. Our whole family had to sleep in one room and at times things got a little cramped.
For this I am grateful about my mother. She kept me and my siblings warm even though she would be freezing. The one thing that she made sure was that her children were safe from any harm.
Me and my family lived like this for twelve years until we finally got a new house. Since we are a religious family, we believe that the Lord helped us to move to our new home in Waianae Valley. The house is brand new and one thing's for sure: the roof doesn't leak.
My mom is my Savior, redeemer, and rescuer rolled into one. She loves me no matter what and I love her for doing everything she has done for me throughout my life. I can honestly say, that without my mom, I wouldn't be where I am today.
