Tyra Banks was born on December 4, 1973 in Los Angeles, California and is the daughter of Carolyn London-Johnson & Don Banks and sister of Devin Banks. When Tyra was only in the 11th grade, she went to Paris for runway modeling. She went to places like Milan, Paris, New York, and London to walk the runways for different designers. She now is the host and executive producer for The Tyra Banks Show and America’s Next Top Model where she inspires young women every day through her fame and popularity.

Tyra Banks should also be considered a hero because she changed the modeling industry, for example, in 1996 she was the first African-American woman to appear in Sport’s Illustrated. This set the stage for other African Americans that wanted to pursue a career in modeling. Moreover, in an edition of Success magazine in 2010, when she was first starting the modeling business, she was rejected by four modeling agencies, but she kept going until she was finally offered to sign up with Elite agency at age 17. This shows that Tyra didn’t let anything get in her way or let anything stop her from what she does best.
