MY HERO...
Tyra Lynne Banks was born on December 4, 1973 at Inglewood, California. She was only six years of age when her parents divorced and she was raised by a single mother. She pursued her dreams to become a super model at the age of 16, being one of the few African American models in the industry. Once she retired from modeling, she began television producing.

MY HERO'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS...Tyra Banks is one of the few inspirational and successful African American women in the modeling industry as well as in life. Many people, especially young girls, see her as a role model. I admired her personality and self being. Tyra Banks dedicates her time in improving the lives of women and teenagers self-esteem. Her method of helping others is by her T.V shows like "American Next Top Model" and her own show her being the host. Also, in 1996 Tyra made history as the first African American woman to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In the year 2006, Time Magazine named Tyra Banks one of the 100 most influential people in America.MY PERSONAL IMPORTANCE OF MY HERO...
I consider Tyra Banks to be a hero for many reasons. For example, the sacrifices she had to endure while pursuing her dream to become a supermodel and a TV talk show host is very admiring. Her way of giving advice to help women and the young to live better lifestyles has influenced me greatly. Such as the way Tyra is trying to change the view of girls wanting to be skinny as the models magazines promote. She teaches women self appreciation and to not let others put them down by making them understand and love who they are, no matter how they look.
