Todd Beamer

by Erin from Dublin

Everyone has some sort of a hero. They can be brave, strong, and trustful, amazing, or a good role model. They can even be someone you know or are related to! Heroes can try to be a hero or just end up being one because of the good choices they make. A hero for me is Todd Beamer. After I heard his story, I realized what a true hero is.

Todd Beamer and many others were most unfortunate to be on Flight 93. Even if they were unfortunate, they helped a lot of people. Todd Beamer and others were full of courage because they attacked the terrorist that had the bomb. They knew that they probably wouldn't survive, but they had to try. Todd Beamer was a good leader when he lead the others to attack the terrorist.

When people boarded Flight 93, they had no idea that at least four terrorists were on the plane with them. Soon they got up to 35,000 feet. Not long after, the passengers realized that the terrorists were attacking the pilot. The terrorists killed the pilot, and took over the plane. Todd Beamer and others like Tom Burnett, called to get help. Todd's last words were asking the supervisor to call his pregnant wife and his sons, and tell them he loved them dearly. Then he said, "Are you ready? Let's roll." He showed courage and love for others as he tried to save the others on the plane. Unfortunately, they crashed in Pennsylvania. None of the passengers survived the terrible crash.

Although the story is sad, the people on board did a lot to help try to not let the plane crash into a monument like the other planes did to the Twin Towers. They also didn't want the plane to blow up near a bunch of people and hurt them. They had succeeded with both. People had a memorial for all the passengers. America is very proud of the brave, kind people who would not let our country down. Thanks for reading!
