Ty A. Brust

by Kyle from Pickerington

A hero is a man who does what he can.

My idea of a hero is someone who keeps people safe and obeys the law. I also think that a hero does something good for another person or for their country. Heroes can be everyday people such as firemen or police officers. They're heroes because everyday they risk their lives for the safety and well being of others.

In my opinion it's important to have a hero because it gives you someone to look up to and respect. I also think that it's important to have a hero because if you don't you can end up doing bad things and become corrupt. Another reason i think it's important to have a hero is so you have someone to look up to and admire. If you don't have somebody to admire then you wouldn't have anybody to be like.

My hero in his uniform.
My hero in his uniform.

I chose my dad for my hero project. He fits my definition of a hero because he is a police officer. This fits my definition because every day he protects the lives of others by obeying the law and making sure that everybody is safe. He also fits my definition because he risks his live for the safety of others.

I think my hero should be in the Hall of Fame because he does a lot for his community. He works a lot so he can make sure that everyone is safe. Another reason i think he should be in the Hall of Fame is because he's a great role model. I also think my dad should be in the Hall of Fame because in addition to being a great role model he's also a awesome fatherly figure. If there were no people like my dad then the world wouldn't be a very safe place.

I interviewed my hero and asked the following questions:

(1.) Who is your personal hero and why?
Kyle Brust because he was born three months early and turned out to be a great student. He has also overcome a lot of adversity.

(2.) Who did you look up to as a kid and why?
My dad because i thought he was cool and a supporting fatherly figure.

(3.) Who was your favorite TV role model?
Bill Cosby from the Cosby Show.

(4.) How would you define a hero?
Somebody that's willing to do what's right and not what's popular.

(5.) Explain your reasoning for number four.
Because a hero stands up for what is right and doesn't care about making the popular decision.

(6.) How do you think a person becomes a hero?
By consistently doing things right.

(7.) Do you think people need heroes?
Yes, because everybody needs to be shown the right way to do things and everybody needs someone they can look up to.

(8.) If there were no heroes, do you think life would e different?
Yes, because no one would learn how to do things right if they had no one to look up to.

(9.) Do you think everyone's capable of being a hero? Why or why not?
I do because life is about choices and everybody has the choice to do the right thing.

(10.) Do you think that everyone needs a role model?
Yes, because people need to know how to do things right.

This interview went well. His responses were very specific. I respect this adult because everyday he does what he can to make the world a better place. Some facts about my dad is that he is a Lieutenant and is in charge of the Columbus Police Academy.
