The first time I saw one of Tim Burton's films, I was probably around nine years old. I didn’t know it was his film until later on, but I always remember his movies. The first movie of his that I saw was Batman. I used to watch it all the time with my family. I think the reason I love his movies so much is because of his creative way of expressing the stories he is hired to direct. He makes them unique and entertaining, but creepy or disturbing, this is why I love his movies.
Tim Burton is a movie director, at the moment he’s working for Disney on the movie Alice in Wonderland. For Burton's education and training he went to California Institute of Arts. During that time he made one of his first short films, but no one really liked it. To get into this career it has more to do with who you know and your talents than having a high education. Depending on how well the movie is directed and how well it sells depends on how much Burton will make. He says that he loves this job because it’s like therapy, and loving your job is probably the most important part for him.

In Burton's childhood he watched a lot of Gothic movies, and read a lot of Edgar Allen Poe. People would not expect him to become such a talented and successful director because he didn’t show any traits as a child. During school he wasn’t the brightest child either. He didn’t receive very good grades, but he did do well in his college. He went to an art college that helped him become such a great success in his career. He followed his love for drawing and the freedom of the mind which led him to being very prosperous in his career.
The greatest thing about Burton’s films is the entertainment he brings to the family. Most of his movies can be enjoyed by any age, some may be a little too young to watch a couple of them. Besides those few, anyone can watch them and have a fun time while doing it. Another contribution he gives to society is the new ways of filming things. The movie Beetlejuice incorporates animation and real life acting, which in its time wasn’t that common. As the years have gone by it has caught on and more directors use this technique. Besides how he helps in his own industry, he makes us laugh with his special way of directing. His movies makes us happy with his quirky characters and Gothic set ups. Both of these qualities are great additions to society and our life at home.

To be involved in a career like Burton's I would have to take art classes and maybe animation. My goals in high school would be to get good grades and make sure I have good leadership skills. For College I would have to go to an art related school. Learning from Burton’s style of unique directing could also help in many other careers, not just movie directing. There are many jobs that could use a little bit of diversity that Burton brings to his job every day. If I had this job then I would want to produce movies with the same kind of individuality. I don’t know what genre or a story but I know it would be a great accomplishment to be able to do something as fun and fulfilling as making a movie.
