Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847 and died October 18, 1931. He was a great American inventor and also a business man. He created many amazing inventions. Like the Phonograph and Motion Picture Camera. But the best one changed the world. How, you may ask? He created the Light Bulb. Yes, the light that comes out your lamp was created by Thomas Edison.

He was born in Milan, Ohio. Even though you think he was one of the smartest people in school, he was not. His mind often wandered off. Yes, he was a day-dreamer. But that didn't stop him.

On December 25, 1871 he married 16 year old Mari Stilwell. Before they got married, they met 2 months before that. She was an employee at one of his shops. They had three children. They all had a very short lives.

He began his career in New York City as an inventor. The invention that got him noticed was his Phonograph. This invention was so unexpected that to them it seemed magical. In New Jersey he was known as ''The Wizard of Menlo Park.'' He was a talented inventor.

He did change the world. He helped us all in a way. I mean he made the light bulb that gives us light. He was a magical inventor that made a difference in the world. He will be always remembered.
