Terry Fox

by Alyssa from Innisfil

Hi I'm Alyssa I'm going to tell you about my hero, Terry Fox. Terry Fox ran half way around Canada to raise money for cancer research. I know about my hero because every year schools across Canada have a Terry Fox run. Terry Fox saved lots of lives with all the money that was raised.

He was a very active teenager and still got cancer. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was raised in Port Coquitlam, British Colubia. He died June 28th 1981 at age 22.

At age 18 Terry was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma (bone cancer). He had to have his right leg removed 15cm above his knee in 1977.

I think he showed the character of courage.

Terry is a hero to me because if no money was raised for cancer research then the hospital would not have been able to get rid of my grandma's cancer. I think that Terry Fox was very brave because who knows what could had happened with his cancer.
