Terry Fox

by Emily from Bradford

Someday the hurting must stop.

Can you run 5,280 km across Canada with an artificial leg? Well I'll tell you who tried..... Terry Fox that's who. Terry Fox is my number one hero. Terry Fox is a hero to everyone and he's Canada's number one Canadian runner. He's a huge hero to me.

Terry Fox was born on July 28, 1958. Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was raised in Port Coquitlam, BC. Terry went to British Columbia High School, while he was in high school he really liked playing basketball but he had hurting in his right leg. Terry loved sports while he was a kid. Terry had pain in his knee. Terry was the shortest person on the basketball team so he had to work really hard. Terry's family was really supportive of Terry he had his mom Betty, and his dad Rolly, his sister Judith, and his brothers Darrell, and Fred. Terry thanks his family for their supportive love! Terry wanted everyone to give one Dollar for cancer. Terry was a kind person.

Terry had Courage, he ran even though he had cancer in his right leg. He was also caring - he was able to to run and raise 24.17 million. Respect - he wanted everyone to be healthy. Empathy - he understood the feelings of others. He had Optimism - he hoped in the future that if he was gone people would still care that the hurt would stop. if wasn't there, people could help. Integrity - he wanted to run and hoped people would stop being hurt every day.

Terry Fox influenced me to never give up and always try my best and to keep going even when it gets hard and to always believe in myself. Terry Fox had had a good heart; too bad he had a bad leg. He might have died but the spirit of him is still in our hearts. Cancer influenced him because it made him run for cancer research to raise cancer awareness so people wouldn't have to live with cancer. Dick Tram was the first amputee to complete the New York Marathon.

Terry Fox was a hero to a lot of people and he still is. Terry Fox helped a lot of sick people and thanks to Terry a lot of people have lives and have new lives! Terry Fox did a good thing, he was helpful and caring and everyone will remember that! Terry Fox was fair to others. Terry Fox was my hero because he ran across Canada. He raised over 24.17 million dollars for cancer research and while he had an artificial leg, but the sad part about my hero is he died. Even though he did he will always be my hero in my heart and some day I hope he'll be your hero too because there are millions of reasons why he one of them. Well I think you found out this is coming to the end of my story about Terry Fox.
