A hero is a person who inspires you to do your best or work your hardest. A hero is someone who makes mistakes, who battles obstacles, but still made it to their goal. A hero is someone who doesn’t care what the world thinks about them they do what they believe is right and it ends up being right.

Temple Grandin is a woman who has a form of autism in which she learns things by picturing them in her head. For example, when someone tells her about cows she thinks of milk, cows, and slaughter. She has difficulty learning something that she cannot picture, but she still learns.

Temple Grandin is also a woman who has earned a PhD in animal science, is an assistant professor at a university, and has earned several awards. She has invented a system in which when a cow is about to be slaughtered, it calms the animal down and makes it feel less nervous. While a young adult, she invented a “Hug-Machine” for whenever she feels anxious or stressed out. She says “Everyone needs a hug sometimes.”

She has won numerous awards for her invention of a more humane livestock handling system. It is used world wide and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) actually approves it and thinks it is a great idea. They have rewarded Grandin for her ingenuity.

Grandin has had a movie made about her life and she was played by Claire Danes. She has gone to the Emmy’s, and many people know who she is. She is one of the Time’s magazine’s 100 top influential heroes. She is a very smart person and a brave person to invent this human livestock handling system and other things while having autism. When she was a child, she couldn't talk. All she could do was scream. Obviously, she has come a long way since that period in her life. She continues to have anxiety attics, but that still doesn't stop her from achieving her many goals in life. This tenacity and drive is why Temple Grandin is my hero.
