Tyler Robert Joseph was born on December 1, 1988 in Columbus, Ohio. He created the band Twenty One Pilots in 2009 with two other band members, Chris Salih and Nick Thomas. Tyler came up with the name Twenty One Pilots when he was reading a play called All My Sons by Arthur Miller. In the play a plane crashed and killed twenty-one pilots and that is how the name became to be. Chris Salih and Nick Thomas left the band in late 2010 or in early 2011. They wanted something else for a career but Tyler said and then called up Josh and asked if Josh wanted to do one show and he said yes but i have to work tonight. Josh quit his job just to do one show with Tyler but eventually Josh ended up in the band Twenty One Pilots and is still currently in it playing the drums and occasionally the trumpet. The music the band creates is so original and has so much meaning. Tyler Joseph quit something he loved to write more meaningful things and that made people stay alive.

Ever since Tyler Joseph was in his young teens he had a disorder with depression. He has 'Seasonal Depression' and just depression in general. What seasonal depression is, is that during a certain time frame he gets really depressed around and can't get out of the depression for awhile. Tyler also has regular depression and that means he gets depressed whenever and not just around his seasonal depression. In an interview one time Tyler explained that he had seasonal depression and if anyone else is going through it that they aren't alone in the battle. Tyler also suffers from anxiety as well and in the interview he includes that anxiety really can hurt people and that it isn't fun having at all and that we aren't alone in that battle either.Tyler was asked one day in an interview what was the hardest when Josh moved to L.A. Tyler responded with "When it came around to my seasonal depression I really missed Josh and I called him a lot. What came out of that seasonal depression and Josh moving was the good music."(Tyler Joseph). Tyler Joseph also said that the best part about seasonal depression is that he makes the best music around that time and that it helps other people.

Tyler Joseph's mom was a teacher at a local high school and was the basketball coach too. Ever since Tyler was younger he has been playing basketball with his older brother Zach. Tyler loved basketball so much and his mom is the one who taught him from a young age. He eventually went to a public high school and played basketball for Worthington Christian High School in Ohio. Tyler was point guard for his team and was the best player for the team. He ended up getting a scholarship to go to a local college but he earlier found out that he loved working with music. Tyler refused the scholarship and started to work on music more. His parents supported him all the way and would always support him. "Yeah, I declined a scholarship for basketball so I can write music and help friends and other people with their problems."(Tyler Joseph). Tyler now knows that he has help many kids and will keep helping kids.

Tyler's lyrics are meaningful and sometimes has mentioned God in his songs. The band that he is in is called Twenty One Pilots. The drummer of the band is Josh Dun and Tyler is the singer and he plays other instruments. Tyler has some lyrics that say Jesus and God in them but that is mostly their older music. Now Tyler writes about how you shouldn't self harm and make yourself feel down because you don't deserve that. Tyler Joseph and Joshua Dun give kids hope that there is something to look forward to, whether that be the next day or the next couple of days. Tyler writes his songs with deeper meaning than what some people think. Most of his songs don't make since to the people who don't get it. Twenty One Pilots has a song called Car Radio and some of the lyrics are "Somebody stole my car radio and now i just sit in silence." This means that without music he is sitting in silence and that isn't good. "Oh mind too deep, please stop thinking. I liked it better when my car had sound." Tyler is saying that when there is nothing else to do you think and your mind goes to places you shouldn't go and and it can get bad real fast. He wants you to listen to music or do something to get it off your mind. In another song called Kitchen Sink he says " A kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me." Tyler says that the kitchen sink to him and a lot of people is a place where they self harm themselves and clean up the mess there. Guns For Hands is another really good song that people wouldn't understand and Tyler has so much emotion in this song. Tyler says "I see a whole room full of these mutant kids, fused at the wrist, I simply tell them they should shoot at this. Simply suggest my chest and this confused music it's obviously best for them to turn their guns to a fist." Tyler and Josh are saying take their music and them and throw all your pain at them and use this music to help you through your depression. Tyler is saying give it all to him and he will try and help you.

Tyler and Josh are helping other people believe that there is a meaning to this life and that we just aren't here for the heck of it. Tyler is a loving and caring person and cares for all of his fans and loves hearing from them. Everybody says Tyler is the real life Troy Bolton because he quit basketball for music. He loves to know he is making a big difference in other kids' lives and that he is helping out a lot of people. Tyler and Josh both have demons that they have to deal with and their fans are there for when that happens and we all help out each other in the fandom.
