My Father
My Father

A parent is supposed to set their child up for their future. It is their responsibility to make sure the child has clothing and a place to sleep. It is a parent’s job to discipline and reward their child and to set up morals that the child can live by. I cannot think of a better parent than my father. He made sure to provide for me fully, while still teaching me the value of hard work. He taught me everything from how to ride a bike to how to rotate my tires.

The first time I tried to rotate my tires, my dad sent me to take the loosened tire over to the other side of the car, while he loosened the other side. I tried to carry it, like actually lift the tire, and being seven that was not a smart thing to do. It slipped out of my hand while I was carrying it, and it rolled from the driveway across the street and into the neighbor’s yard. I was so worried that I messed up, but he just went and got the tire and explained that I needed to roll it. I don’t now why I thought that picking it up was a good idea, but oh well. I just know that I thought he was the coolest dad ever.

My dad is not only patient, but he is also kind. We went this past fall to clean an old orphanage. It wasn’t in use anymore, but they wanted to use it soon, so we went and helped clean it. It was a church project. We mostly raked leaves, but they also needed us to pull weeds. He is an incredibly hard worker, and I believe the fact that he spent his Saturday at an old building cleaning proves this. My father also spends time working at the Miracle Hills Boys Ministry. He has helped plan parties for them and also just spends time with the kids.

He recently went bowling with the kids. He spent two hours bowling with them and just hanging out. He also helped throw a Super Bowl party for them just recently. They made a lot of food and just watched the game since the Miracle Hill Boy’s Ministry only takes teenage boys; I would imagine they enjoyed it. These are only a few instances of my father’s kindness.

As you can see my father is a kind, patient and often selfless man. These are the reasons why I consider him to be a hero. He isn’t the kind of man who screams for attention or does kind things only for the recognition. He is just simply a good man who does what he does for the better of the people around him. I could not ask for a better father. I would be a happy woman if I grew up the be half the person he is.
