Did you know Taylor Swift wrote at least 200 songs at the age of thirteen years old? She did. A hero is someone who sets a good example in life over all. My hero is Taylor Swift. She was born December 13,1983, in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.

Taylor grew up on a farm that sold Christmas trees with her younger brother, Austin. Her influences were LeAnn Rimes, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton and her grandmother. Although her grandmother was a professional opera singer, Taylor followed her grandmother’s footsteps in a different way. She wanted to be a country singer. It all started in fourth grade when she won a national poetry contest. It helped Taylor gain confidence. At ten, Taylor began writing songs and singing at karaoke contests and at fairs around her hometown. Around the age of twelve she began learning how to play guitar. She was the youngest staff song writer ever hired at Sonny ATV Tree Publishing house. Soon she moved to Tennessee to pursue her career. Her first single came out in mid 2006. In 2008 she was the top female vocalist.

Taylor Swift is a hero to me because she has given something up for someone else. In 2008 Taylor donated $5,000 dollars to Red Cross Hospital when she won the video of the year. In 2008 Taylor also helped out when she donated $100,000 dollars to the Red Cross in Cedar Rapids to help the victims of the Iowa flood. Taylor sets a good example for young kids to make them aware of things going on around them and what they can do to help. On September 21, 2007, Taylor Swift launched a campaign to prevent online predators. She had teamed up with the Tennessee governor to combat Internet sex crimes. The state police and Taylor distributed information about Internet safety to parents and kids. In early 2008 she donated a pink Chevy pick-up truck given to her by a record label to a children’s charity. In June, 2008 Swift donated all of her proceeds from her sales at the 2008 Country Music Festival to the Red Cross. Taylor also donated $250,000 dollars on her birthday to different schools she has attended or had been involved with.

Taylor Swift shows that you can overcome your obstacles in life and she puts other people before herself. She shows how to help out other people. Swift shows bravery by how she gets up in front of a lot of people and performs. Taylor shows young women how to eat healthy and take care of their health. Taylor Swift will always be my hero.
