Everyone has a different definition of a hero. A hero can be someone you admire and look up to. A hero can also be someone who inspires you to accomplish something. It can also be someone who saves you, like superman. It can be a person who has fought for their lives and for you. My hero is the influential musician, Taylor Swift. Her music inspires me to live life to the fullest and live life with no regrets.

Taylor Swift is a country music singer/songwriter, from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Swift’s music has been very inspiring for me. Every song she writes, I can relate to. Her songs explain a teenager’s life in a unique way. When Taylor had problems with her friends, or boyfriends, she would spill her feelings out on sheet of paper. She then would make them an official song and they became a world wide hit. To me, that is impressive. To be able to pour your emotions out and share them with the world is not easy to do.

At the age of ten, Taylor Swift had become encouraged by music. When she was eleven, she called record companies to try to get a record deal. She wanted to be that big. At the age of twelve, she picked up the guitar and practiced till her fingers would bleed. To pursue her career in country music, she had to face obstacles of being rejected and approved. At thirteen, to see if she could get a chance in the industry, her family and she had moved to Nashville, Tennessee. While there, she had performed in a showcase, at the Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, and caught the attention of, music-industry veteran Scott Borchetta, who had plans to create a new label. He decided Swift was one of the first acts he wanted to sign. Swift’s career had just begun.

When Swift was at the age of sixteen, she kicked off her first record. Her record went world wide and stunned listeners. The song was called, Tim McGraw. Taylor said, that the idea for this song, came to her while she was sitting in math class. She had spent a wonderful summer with a great guy, who she really loved. But, now that summer was coming to an end, they would be going their separate ways. She wrote the song to remind him of their summer together. This song had made the top twenty cut.

Taylor Swift not only writes about friends and family, she also writes about her own personal life experiences. They weren't just picked out and handed to her to sing, she created them. She describes how tough life can get, and how you can overcome it.

One of my favorite quotes from her songs, to me, means that you should always stay true to yourself and don’t change for anyone. If you change who you are, to please everyone around you, eventually you will run out of people to be, and you will be no one. I love that. Especially the times I am going through right now, the “teenage years.” It reminds me, to always stay true to myself.

Taylor Swift has inspired me to think outside of the box. To follow your dreams no matter what anyone says. People may disagree with you, but it’s your decision in life to do what you want. I feel all my problems, thoughts, feelings, and actions, are described in her songs. Her music helps me get through my day. They relate to my life so much and resemble many things that have happened in my lifetime.
