Have you ever heard of any women war heroes? Well Vietnam has two: the sisters Trung Trac and Trung Nij. I chose Trung Trac as my hero because she is brave, determined, and selfless. You barely ever hear of woman heroes and you never hear about woman war heroes. I believe this isn’t right and that woman heroes should be talked about more and should be celebrated more often.
I chose Trung Trac is because I think she was extremely brave. She and her sister were willing to do what no man could get up the guts to do. They disagreed with China because they didn’t believe that China should rule Vietnam. Only her husband and sister were willing to join her and be generals to help get rid of China’s rule over Vietnam. Another example of her braveness was when she reconquered most of Vietnam as revenge for her dead husband. When the Chinese found out about his rebellion against them, the emperor had Trung Trac’s husband tortured and killed. That killing was her last straw; she could no longer take the Chinese ruthlessness. She started convincing commoners to join them and getting supplies ready as soon as she heard about her husband’s death. One other factor that shows her bravery is when she fought back, even when the odds seemed hopeless. Even when outmatched during the war to keep out, they still fought back against impenetrable odds. She never gave up, no matter what happened. All in all Trung Trac is one of the bravest people I have ever heard of.
Trung Trac was not only brave, but she was extremely determined. She, her sister, and their troops won the first war while Trung Trac was fueled on rage for her dead husband. They used the element of surprise to win their first battle because the Chinese thought the rebellion problem was over. Once she had enough supplies and troops, they attacked at once. She is also determined when the Trung Trac won the first war. The Vietnamese made her and her sister co-queens over them. When they led the Vietnamese to victory, Trung Trac and Trung Nij both became queens and ruled together. Though it didn’t last long so they weren’t able to do any thing great or build any great monuments or even train any troops which is why they lost when the Chinese returned. Another example of her being brave is that she kept going. Even when outnumbered, they still fought back. When China returned after defeat they came back with a bigger army of well trained army with even better weapons. In the end Trung Trac and her sister may have fought back but they lost.
Another trait she had that makes Trung Trac my hero is how selfless she was. She risked her life again and again for her country. She didn’t only fight on the front line, she fought with the rest of her troops in two wars. In between she led the country as co-queen to her people. She also spent her entire life dedicated to freeing Vietnam of the Chinese.
In conclusion there isn’t very much information on the Trung sisters, and at best there were only a few bits on Trung Trac. Even if her life was lost in history she was still willing to go against China and managed to chase them out of Vietnam even if for only a short time. So next time someone says women can’t fight or women are weak, remember the Trung sisters and remember all they did.
