The name of my hero is Tyson Gay. He is my hero for three reasons. The first reason is that he followed his dream and was able to compete in the Olympics. The second reason is that he has the second fastest time ever recorded for the 100 meter dash and the third fastest time ever recorded for the 200 meter dash. The third reason he is my hero is that my dream is to go to the Olympics one day and he has shown me that this can become a reality.
Tyson Gay competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics hosted in Bejjing, China. In the 2008 Olympics Gay competed in his main race, the 100 meter dash. This was Gay’s first Olympic games that he had ever competed in. Tyson had qualified for the Olympics with a wind-aided 9.68 in the hundred meter dash. This was the fastest 100 meter dash ever recorded. In the 100 meter dash Gay ran against his biggest competition, Usain Bolt, coming in second with a sad but joyful finish.

As a child Tyson was inspired to run by his sister Tiffany. She inspired him because until he was 14 he could not beat her. Tyson was the first athlete in the University of Arkansas history to win an NCAA 100 meter title. In 2007 Tyson became a triple World Champion. He is also only the second man in history to be a World Champion in the 100, 200, and the 4x100. Tyson's personal best in the 100 is a 9.68. Although wind-aided, it is still the fastest 100 meter dash ever run by a human being.
Tyson Gay is my hero for three very important reasons. The first reason is that he is an Olympic runner who has been able to inspire many through his deeds on the track. The second reason that Mr. Gay is my hero is that he has been able to follow his dream and compete in the Olympics. The final reason is that Mr. Gay not only excels at one sprinting event but that he excels in more than one event and he lets kids know that it is okay to want to do that. That is why Tyson Gay is my hero and that is why he always will be.

That is why Tyson Gay is my hero. He is an outstanding runner who I look up too. Recently he has competed in Diamond League events winning, in one race, $40,000. You now know why Mr. Gay is my hero, why he is a person who young runners can relate to and look up to and what some of his accomplishments are that have gotten him to where he is today. This is my hero and a man who could be a hero to you.
