Taylor Uhl

by Anna from Eden Prairie

Taylor Uhl is number 16 for the Eden Prairie Varsity Girls Soccer Team. She plays the position of a forward. This year, that team took the state title for their age group. After that, the varsity girls’ team was ranked number 1 in the nation. A lot of great moves were played that night, but Taylor finished the game once and for all.

Taylor was born on April 13, 1993. She has one sister named Katelyn. After completing her high school years at Eden Prairie, she received 14 letters. Four were given for soccer, four for basketball, three for lacrosse, two for being a National Honors Society Member, and one for track. Her favorite athlete is Fernando Torres. Fernando is a Spanish soccer player. He plays the same position as Taylor. Taylor uses her skills as a forward to weave around players and score.

Uhl was offered to play soccer for her senior year on a National Soccer Team. She turned them down because she wanted EP Girls Soccer to win a state championship in 2010. During the championship game, she scored in the first 42 seconds. That was not her only goal of the night. Taylor scored two more goals defeating the defending champions, Wayzata, 3-0. She is very admirable in how she accomplished her goal and her commitment to the team.

I have seen Taylor play, and every chance she gets with the ball she makes the best of it. If she gets attention she takes little to herself but attracts most of it to the whole team. I am also a soccer player, and she inspired me that with focusing and hard work I can accomplish what I put my mind to. If you have ever seen her play, you will agree that every chance she gets with the ball, by the net, she shoots or she passes. You always want to have a better angle at the net and fool the goalie.

Taylor finished high school with 91 goals and 31 assists. In the future she either wants to still be playing soccer, or to be a biomedical engineer and start a family. Next fall, she will be going to college, and playing soccer at the University of Minnesota. She chose Minnesota over Stanford, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Iowa State. I want to be like Taylor, and have a goal I want to achieve. She is my hero because she is amazing at soccer, excels in academics, and reminds everyone it takes a whole team to win a championship.
