My Hero. This paper would not only explain why she is my hero, but how she has also become the hero of many women of her time. She was the Empress of the Byzantine Empire, and the wife of Emperor Justinian. One that gave women a chance to be treated with respect and has completely prove to the people of her time, that a woman can be of equal to a man. Many may know her as Empress Theodora. She is my hero because of her origins, qualities, and all the things that she has contributed to the others.

Empress Theodora was no higher than any women that you would regularly see on the street. On the contrary many people may actually look at her as an inferior being because of her occupation as a prostitute. I thought for myself, that she probably had a great reason of why she may have chosen that part of her life. I never once looked down at her in that kind of way. In other words for me, her flaws were a part of the qualities that I loved about her. Even though others might question me from what I stated. She was this woman who rose from the bottom of the caste and become one of the greatest empresses that once ruled. Likewise, it's as if she was showing me that, I from a lower class of the society can reach up higher as she did.

Theodora's great qualities are what made me admire her even more. She was this woman who is beautiful, desired by many men and was renowned for it throughout her land. She wasn't afraid to show it. It seemed more to me, that she didn't have a care in the world of what others might say. She knew how to use that part of her to survive in a time where there's little to no opportunity for a woman to make a better place for herself. However she wasn't only an eye candy, she was a smart woman who knew how to speak her mind. Because of those qualities, her husband Emperor Justinian ruled Byzantium with her as equal. She wasn't just used as an accessory to display to other men. I would love to one day find a man who would see me as his equal, no more no less.

Last but not least is her contribution to the people that she ruled. I admire her dearly for this because she has never forgotten her roots. She wasn't one of the cliched princesses that ascended a higher rank and just went on with her days. She made her Empire not only better to a part of the society, but changed it so that all her people can be given the same amount of equity. She wanted to aspire for greater things. Her actions affected me in a way which made me want to strive to become successful while giving a helping hand to the people around me.

Empress Theodora is my one true hero. She embodies the characteristic that I want to be molded to as I grow and become more experienced. As time goes on I will keep her story close to me, to remind me that times may be difficult but as my will grows; I can become as great as her or even more. Her greatness will never be forgotten. I will always remember her, and so do the people of her time as they pass her stories through their descendants as I would do.
