Holy Priest Theodore

Everyone has a hero. Some chose a hero due to his/her attractive life, horror experience or just because of appearance. As I was getting ready for this topic, I looked back at the Georgian history, so I’ve easily decided who would be my best hero. He separates from other people for his sacrifice devoted to Georgia. Holy priest Theodore lived in 17th century. This period is marked by the big conflict between Persia and Turkey as they both aimed to conquer Baghdad. In 1609 Turkey defeated Persia and in the same year invaded Georgia. It was Luarsab II reign time. The enemies had been informed that the king of Georgia was in Tskiretian Castle and they decided to seize him and conquer the whole country. It was only Holy priest Theodore who stayed in the village who managed to save the whole church treasure from barbarian invaders. The conquerors forced him to guide them.

Although it was a vital choice not to obey the orders, Holy Theodore decided to show them the wrong way. When they figured out that the priest deceived them, they immediately killed him. The sacrifice of Theodore resulted in that Luarasab managed to protect the castle and get ready for the war. Theodore wasn’t like the others, this gave me the reason to consider him my hero.

To sum up, I wish I had a chance to appear among those people, about whom in the very next future someone will write the same topic.
