My hero is Ian Thorpe. He is an Olympic gold medalist swimmer for Australia. He is my hero because he is a champion swimmer and a nice man.

Ian Thorpe was born in New South Wales, Australia on October 13, 1982. His full name is Ian James Thorpe. He has a sister called Christina, a dad called Ken and a mother called Margaret. His nicknames are "Thorpey" and "Thorpedo" which are really good because he is like a torpedo when he swims. His trademark is his big feet and these help him swim even faster.

Ian has swum in the Sydney Olympics and Athens Olympics and is looking forward to going to Beijing in 2008. His hobbies are movies, surfing and going out with friends and grunge music. He also has his own underwear brand called “It”.
