Never Looking Back
You stepped out into the world today
With every flaw intact.
Turned on your truck,
Pulled out of the drive,
Without ever looking back.
I watched you fall and crumble
I've even set you back.
Taped up your wounds,
Just let you cry,
And put you back on track.
You've never been Heaven's Angel
No doubt you never will.
Hurried mistakes,
Tattered repairs,
Waiting for the world to still.
You stepped out into the world today
With every flaw intact.
Turned on your truck,
Pulled out of the drive,
Without ever looking back.
Author notes
Dedicated to Tikka.
I wrote this for a hero contest, but I highly doubt I'll win considering it's hard to show why I call her my hero. Its simply the fact that, because she's made so many mistakes, because she's so imperfect, and she keeps going on, knowing her past but not letting it haunt her, that I admire her.
Tikka Nicole Banie,
You're my hero.
It's easy to admire someone who makes no mistakes, but the honest truth is, everyone has. There's no fault in admiring someone's achievements, but most accomplishments are easier to take than failures. To watch a normal person rise and fall, only to stand again, there's a certain strength most people don't carry. The ability to tend your scars and work past them instead of hiding behind the experiences, that is one of the most difficult challenges in life.
It's admirable to conquer the world, but the greatest achievement is conquering yourself.

Extra Info
"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell." -
