John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

Tolkien was born in Bloemfontein, 1892, South Africa. He is my hero because of the stuff he wrote, and the stuff he did. He wrote many amazing books including "The Hobbit," "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," "The Return of the King," "Quenta Silmarillion," "Leaf By Niggle," "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil," "Mr. Bliss," "The Book of Lost Tales," and many more. His books are loved by literally millions of people all over the world! Tolkien loved different languages and was good at Greek, Latin, and even Swedish; he created many languages for his books.

One reason that I like Tolkien is because he joined a "Viking Club" that was devoted mostly to reading old Norse books. He also joined "The Inklings" along with Messieurs Coghill, Dyson, Owen Barfield, Charles Williams, and C.S. Louis, who was one of Tolkien's closest friends. Tolkien married Edith Bratt and died in 1973. He was buried in a special grave at Oxford right next to his wife.
