A hero is somebody who is dedicated to helping someone or, in another case, something. They are kind, generous, inspiring, brave, etc. A hero could be a normal person walking down the street you see everyday, it could be one of your family members, or a family friend. That is why I chose my sister Tori as my hero.

Tori was born in Denver, Colorado, lives in Aurora, Colorado, and is a sophomore at Eaglecrest High School. She is the child of Melinda Hall-Gray and Ricky Gray. She loves to play volleyball, do yearbook, and make honor roll. She has two major best friends and she enjoys spending every waking moment with them.

Tori is my hero because she helped me when I broke my finger, when I put my finger in the crack of the door. She took care of me and was very kind. She is also very inspiring because she wants to go to college and actually finish it and not just drop out when things get tough. She is also very generous because when I had a fever of 100.3, she took care of me and never really left my side to go hang out with friends. Her two major accomplishments are staying focused and doing well in High School in order to get good grades.

My sister is a hero on the spot because she is an ordinary person. She reacts quickly to a situation when it occurs and has little time to think. She doesn’t take every moment to think on how to help the situation. She puts herself in other people’s shoes to look at their point of view to see how they feel and what their feelings are and puts their feelings first.

When I asked my sister Tori, what her definition of a hero was, she told me it was someone who… In the beginning to me I thought it was someone who had a cape, could fly, had a special power, had an enemy, and a weakness. Now I know, thanks to my sister and the book The Hero’s Trail by T.A. Barron, that “A hero is somebody who sets a good example and you could learn from them. It is someone who sets out to help a person and doesn’t care if they are not recognized. They do it because they want to help that person and do it to change the world.” Now I truly know what a real hero is and not just someone who has a cape and all of those false things about them.
