Did you know Ulysses S. Grant's real name was Hiram Ulysses Grant? But he didn’t want the initials H.U.G on his belongings, so he changed it to U.S.G; he liked the initials U.S. This is the name of the 18th president of United States and my hero. Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822 and died July 23,1885. Ulysses S. Grant is my hero because he was a famous general in the Civil War, fought the bloodiest battle of the Civil War, and became the 18th president of the U.S.

Ulysses S. Grant was one of the most famous generals in the Civil War. He fought for the North. Grant was the one who made General Lee surrender by surrounding his army. The Civil War ended and Grant became a hero for defeating General Lee.

General Grant fought the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. The battle was called The Battle of Shiloh, and it was the most important battle for capturing the Mississippi River. Grant’s army won and became a famous figure in the west.

In 1869, Ulysses S. Grant was elected the 18th president of the U.S. He was called "the hero of freedom" when he was president. Grant stopped slavery completely in the United States. Grant is the hero of the presidents.
